Privacy Policy

MangaPeek ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile and desktop application that lets you point your camera or screen at manga panels and receive live translations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data required to provide the service:

• Email address — when you create an account. Used solely for authentication (sign-in, password reset). We do not send marketing emails.
• Token balance & transaction history — the number of translation characters you have purchased or used. Stored in our database to persist your balance across devices.
• App settings — language preferences, font size, overlay color, etc. Stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. Never sent to our servers.

We do not collect:

• Images or screenshots captured by the app
• Translated text content
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data
• Crash logs or analytics beyond what Apple provides to developers

2. How We Use Your Information

• Authenticate you and maintain your session
• Track your character balance so translations work correctly
• Process in-app purchases and credit tokens to your account
• Respond to support requests you initiate

We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

MangaPeek uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase (supabase.com/privacy) — authentication and database hosting. Your email and token balance are stored on Supabase servers located in the EU (Frankfurt).
• OpenAI (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy) — GPT-4o-mini is used to translate OCR text. Text extracted from the screen is sent to OpenAI's API solely to generate a translation. OpenAI does not use API data to train models by default.
• Apple App Store / StoreKit — in-app purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data.

4. Data Retention

Your account data (email, token balance, transaction history) is retained for as long as you have an active account. You may delete your account at any time (see Section 5). Upon deletion, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

5. Your Rights — Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your MangaPeek account and all associated data directly from within the app:

• Open the app → Settings → Account → Delete Account
• Confirm the dialog. Your account, token balance, and transaction history are immediately and permanently erased.

If you are unable to access the app, you may also request deletion by emailing us at egehankarakose@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".

6. Children's Privacy

MangaPeek is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored in the device Keychain and never written to disk in plain text. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, though no system is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
